The Do Right, Do Good Scholarship Award

To whom this purchase is for

“Always do right--this will gratify some and astonish the rest.” This quote by Mark Twain inspired Jean Alerte to utilize his tools in order to empower the youth. In the spirit of doing right, Jean created The Do Right, Do Good Scholarship Award in 2013 to help deserving students attend college. Jean hopes to use his book, Do Right, Do Good in order to motivate students to attend college and follow their dreams.

In order to qualify for the award students must have a GPA of 2.5 or better, a college acceptance letter and unmet financial needs. High school seniors and current college students are eligible to apply.

To apply, students must complete an application:

One may be asking, why a GPA as low as 2.5? Our goal is to make this scholarship about an individual’s character and not their academic history. We believe that one’s number or letter grade cannot solely judge one’s intelligence.

Jean partnered with the Beyond the Boroughs National Scholarship Fund to administer the scholarship awards of up to $2,000 per year, renewable over four years. Beyond the Boroughs is a 501c3 public charity that awards "last dollars in" scholarships to students across the country.
